Trans History Art Gallery Celebration in Oakland

  • East Bay Queer Arts Center 3411 Lakeshore Avenue Oakland, CA, 94610 United States (map)

We're taking a trip to the East Bay Queer Arts Center where artist Kin Folkz will guide us through their augmented art exhibit, "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!" honoring Marsha P. Johnson. A community elder will join Kin to speak about their experience living in New York and their involvement in the gay and trans right movement. Following the tour, it's time to get creative! We'll spend time together painting our own works to send to incarcerated trans folk in the ambiance of disco music. Everyone is welcome to join the group for dinner or drinks after the vent next door at the queer-owned Shakewell Bar & Restaurant. We are collecting a $25 admissions to the event, which will be a donation to the Queer Arts Center.
